Awake and Narcoleptic

“Awake and Narcoleptic” is a one-woman show that offers a raw, funny, and poignant look at the life of comedian Sarah Albritton, who is living with narcolepsy. Directed by Josh Sobel of FutureHome productions, the show explores the challenges that come with living with a misunderstood and often stigmatized disability, including the frustration of seeking a proper diagnosis and the side effects of medication.

Through personal anecdotes, Sarah shares her journey of self-discovery and acceptance, including the ups and downs of coming to terms with her condition and the impact it has had on her relationships and daily life. Along the way, she uses humor to bring light to the realities of living with narcolepsy, from falling asleep during important meetings to experiencing vivid and sometimes terrifying hypnagogic hallucinations.

Yet, “Awake and Narcoleptic” is much more than just a collection of funny stories. It is a call to action, shedding light on the misconceptions surrounding invisible disabilities and the stigma that often comes with them. Through her story, Sarah hopes to inspire greater understanding and acceptance of those living with disabilities, and to encourage people to speak up and share their own experiences.

With a mix of humor, honesty, and heart, “Awake and Narcoleptic” is a must-see show that promises to leave audiences both entertained and enlightened.

Awake and Narcoleptic will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023 with theSpaceUK.
